Donald Ross' season continues on the PGA Tour as we head to Sedgefield Country Club after last week's Rocket Mortgage Classic at the Ross-designed Detroit Golf Club. The Wyndham Championship marks the final regular-season event on the PGA Tour where players will compete for a spot in the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Sedgefield Country Club has brought some strong correlations to fantasy golfers over the years. It's one of the best-performing shots in PGA Tour course history and generally rewards precision shots over distance with an emphasis on putting. Tinted greens are usually beneficial to those who have a few years experience on these Bermudagrass surfaces. Expect a lot of birdies with the winning outcome usually in the low 20-under par.

These are the players who have my interest and those who certainly don't this week at the 2022 Wyndham Championship.
Golfers I definitely play
Mark Hubbard ($7.900 DraftKings | $9.200 FanDuel)
Sam Greenwood
Hubbard hit an ace last week but missed the cut, ending a streak of eight straight cuts. I'd recommend being quick to forgive, considering the Sedgefield Country Club is perhaps one of Hubbard's finest touring setups. He's short from the tee but very accurate which was his combination to succeed in this event. His last three trips, most notably a T-15 in 2020, have seen him finish in the top 25 at the Wyndham Championship.
JT Postón ($8,200 DraftKings | $10,600 FanDuel)
Poston won this event in 2019, so the trend is definitely in his favor. Poston is playing a lot better now than he did in 2019, when he missed five cuts in nine events before Wyndham that year. That year Poston recorded a win at John Deere, a second place finish at Travelers and three other top 11 finishes in his last 11 events. He's oozing with confidence and will be in a lot of good spirits when he gets to Greensboro.

Corey Conners ($9.600 DraftKings | $11.000 FanDuel)
Conners hasn't practiced since the Open Championship, but his game should be a perfect match for Sedgefield Country Club, where Conners can draw on his elite shots. According to the RickRunGood.com golf database, Conners has won shots in the ball shot categories (off the tee plus approach) in 11 of his last 13 games. With an improved shot this year, Conners could make a lot of noise this week.
Joohyung Kim ($8600 DraftKings | $9800 FanDuel)

Kim refuses to take her foot off the pedal and went up 66-63 in the standings last weekend to finish seventh. He has competed in seven PGA Tour events this year and has finished in the top 26 five times, including a third-place finish at the Scottish Open. He's working full steam ahead and will use this as his final event to earn enough temporary membership points to earn his card for next season.
Rory Sabbatini ($6.900 DraftKings | $8.300 FanDuel)
There aren't many ideal stops for Sabbatini, but Sedgefield Country Club is certainly one of them. He has had four top 10 finishes in his last six trips to Greensboro, including one last year. It will come in with two straight slashes this week and offers a decent advantage at this price point.
Golfers I can play
Will Zalatoris ($10.900 DraftKings | $11.900 FanDuel)
Zulatoris was impressive at Detroit Golf Club last week, finishing the T-20 on a course that wasn't quite right for him. I don't think Sedgefield is drastically better for him, but he's certainly more positive. If you can hold it down the fairway you'll be able to attack some of the longer par 4s better than your peers. Despite some disappointing results lately, he still has nine top-28 finishes in his last 12 races, with six top-6 finishes in that span.
Chez Reavie ($7.400 DraftKings | $9.000 FanDuel)
Think of the top golfers at this event and Kevin Kisner will be first along with Webb Simpson. Reavie is cut from the same fabric. According to the RickRunGood.com golf database, he is the most accurate driver on the course for the last 24 rounds. He has consistently played off the field, guiding him to a win at Barracuda and a T-8 at Travelers. He has yet to crack the Sedgefield Country Club code, but the course setting on paper is just too good to ignore.
David Lipsky ($7.000 DraftKings | $8.800 FanDuel)

Lipsky's game is starting to turn, and he's notched up two solid results in his last three games. Lipsky consistently plays off-road and ranks in the top 30 of the Tour in terms of driving distance. It's also one of the best mid-range putters on the course, which will come in handy as the winner will need to collect 15-20 foot birdies.
Austin Smotherman ($7.000 DraftKings | $8.000 FanDuel)
Smotherman disappeared in the Rocket Mortgage Classic over the weekend, turning 74-73. He still managed to make the cut, marking four straight weekends for Smotherman. He's a great handler of the ball, both long and accurate, which is essential at Sedgefield Country Club. Even more impressive is that he has scored in 15 consecutive events, a streak stretching back to late January.
Nick Hardy ($7.300 DraftKings | $8.700 FanDuel)
That appears to be a low point for Hardy, who missed the cut in Detroit last week. Remember this was the first missed cut since April, in a streak of eight events. He's proving to be a solid player who can hold his own at this level. His ability to hit a ton of greens in regulation and place his shots well is a combination that could heat up at any moment. You must explore this ceiling this week.

Golfer I'm fading
Webb Simpson ($10.700 DraftKings | $11.600 FanDuel)
Granted, that's a bit dangerous. Simpson has performed at Sedgefield Country Club and has had an amazing 10 top 11 finishes over his last 12 trips. However, I am afraid he is notthis golferno longer. According to RickRunGood.com's golf database, he has missed the tee-to-green in three consecutive events, something he has not done since mid-2016. Combine that tee game with his worst season since 2016 and I'm even more worried. So keep in mind that the price and ownership potential for Simpson is MUCH high and it's enough to keep me away.
Taylor Pendrith ($8.500 DraftKings | $10.400 FanDuel)

Pendrith mixed and played well last week finishing second behind Tony Finau. This now gives Pendrith four consecutive top 13 finishes. As exciting as it is, Sedgefield Country Club could be one of the worst places on the calendar for him, demanding accuracy and precision off the tee, not violence. Add to that the emotional toll Pendrith might have taken in Sunday's final field and I'll find a way to deal with that later this year.
Davis Riley ($8.000 DraftKings | $9.900 FanDuel)
I'm a big believer in Riley over the long term, but I'm worried about his prospects this week. His last three launches resulted in two missed cuts and a T-64. When you see results like this for a young player at this point in the season, you worry that fatigue is taking over. I also have concerns about the putting surfaces at Sedgefield. They are full of nuance and experience cannot be replaced. This will be Riley's first trip to the event and she seems to have an uphill battle ahead.
Chris Gotterup ($7.600 DraftKings | $9.300 FanDuel)
Gotterup is clearly one of the circuit's very talented rising stars. However, it could be argued that Sedgefield Country Club is one of the worst places in the line-up for him. As Gotterup puts a lot of emphasis on precise steering, he might struggle considering he encounters short grass far less often than his peers. Combine this with unpredictable racquet play and no amount of experience in this event could devastate Gotterup week.
Callum Tarren ($7,300 DraftKings | $8,800 FanDuel)
Tarren continued his excellent run last week with a T-20 finish highlighted by a Sunday 66 to move up 20 places in the standings. The secret lies in Tarren, which is in three consecutive top 25 finishes. While I'm optimistic about him in the long run, I worry about his talent for sneezing out of a T-shirt and fear his popularity will sour Thursday morning.
